Building Committee Update
In the May 19, 2024 bulletin the Building Committee provided information on capital maintenance projects completed since 2021 and future planned projects. Please see below for items completed as promised in 2024 and planned capital maintenance for Summer 2025. Thank you for continuing to support the parish so generously which makes these improvements possible.
Summer 2024 - Total cost - $332,620- School South Wing HVAC replaced
- Installation of new curbing on school roof
- HVAC split system installed for the school counseling area
- Raised chiller lines on the school roof in preparation for roof replacement
- Sealing and striping of campus parking lot
Summer 2025 - Total cost - $1,144,500
School roof replacement excluding the middle school wing which was completed in 2020. The roof replacement will include upgrading the insulation to a tapered system with increased thickness and a higher R-value. This enhancement will improve roof drainage and enhance the building’s energy efficiency. To accommodate the new insulation system, the perimeter parapet walls will be extended to ensure proper coverage and maintain the building’s aesthetic and functional integrity.
Master Plan Update -
As mentioned in the February 2nd bulletin, we have been given approval by the Archbishop and Finance Council along with positive feedback from parishioner surveys to proceed with the Capital Campaign. We will be focused on drafting plans for expansion of the parish hall, creating additional meeting spaces for ministries, building a new parish office area, and addressing essential church maintenance. Additional information will be made available regarding the campaign, project and how you can get involved in the coming weeks and months. Information will be communicated via e-newsletters, the bulletin and the website.

Building Committee Update
Safety Reminder
Please remember not to park in the fire lanes during Mass, especially the main drive as you enter the property. These curbs are marked with yellow paint. It creates a pinch point going down to one lane, it is a safety issue, and it does not provide emergency vehicles enough access. We appreciate your cooperation.
School
On the south wing a compressor will be replaced under warranty and fire dampers have been replaced.
Master Plan Update
Church Development Group, a local KC company, has been chosen to conduct a feasibility study to determine what is financially possible for the next phase of our Master Plan. In the upcoming months, each member of the parish will have the opportunity to provide feedback.

Building Committee Update
Here are some highlights of major projects the building committee has been working on over the summer.- Church/PAC:
PAC floor has been sealed, so it is protected and looks nice. Parking lot sealing completed. Completed moisture assessment of the church flat roof and found it to be in good shape. Assessing the copper roof for leaks at the peak stained glass area.
- School:
Security film was applied to all doors and lower-level windows to keep the students safe. Two new HVAC units were installed for the south wing of the school. New HVAC was installed in the counseling area.
- Master plan update:
Since the beginning of 2024 we have been working with Multistudio, the Archdiocese, and the City of Leawood extensively to evaluate the options available to tackle the following needs identified from parish feedback received in the fall.· Large gathering space adjacent to the church· Additional and accessible ministry meeting spaces· Accessible, secure and functional workspace for parish staff· Parking and site improvements required by the cityThe Building Committee has looked at various options, taking into consideration current and future needs. We have explored various build sites, costs of renovation versus new construction, school needs, and parking and traffic flow.We will also continue to tackle the deferred and current maintenance needs of the campus and will provide monthly updates in the bulletin, newsletter, and church website on our progress.

5/19/2024Dear Curé of Ars Parishioners,
In the following Building Committee report to the Parish, we wish to give thanks and provide you with an update on the overall progress to the campus facilities. Since the development of our Campus Master Plan, the Curé of Ars Building Committee has worked to address the evolving needs of our vibrant parish and ministries. Following that plan, we've completed significant projects over the past decade: renovating the church in 2014, constructing a new rectory in 2018, and finishing the Faith, Hope, and Charity Campaign in 2020 (which included building the Parish Activity Center, renovation of the middle school and school administrative offices, and various site improvements around the campus).
In addition, the Building Committee has focused and prioritized the upkeep of our aging infrastructure by addressing deferred maintenance issues to ensure the functionality of critical systems and building structures, all by following a 5-year maintenance plan. A plan that is reviewed annually and approved by the Finance Council. This document highlight some of these major improvements made since 2021 and provides a look at the next few years of maintenance needing to be addressed.
A second report from the Building Committee will be available in a couple of weeks as to where we are in the process of updating the Campus Master Plan.

10/24/2023Dear Curé Parishioners,
We are working to update our Campus Master Plan and evaluate how we can best serve the current needs of our vibrant parish. Multistudio, the Architectural Design firm assisting us in this process, is requesting parishioner feedback through an anonymous survey and parish meetings.
We ask that you please participate in the PARISH SURVEY to participate in a brief survey (Update: the survey closed on November 3rd).
Paper surveys will be available at the parish office or in the vestibule along with a drop box in the vestibule.The survey will remain open until November 3rd.
SAVE THE DATE - Multistudio will be hosting two Parish Meetings on November 2nd at 9am and November 12th at 6pm in the Father Burak Room to give all parishioners the chance to provide feedback.
