Students seeking Confirmation must enroll in a Catholic School or the School of Religion (SOR) program at Curé of Ars.
According to our diocesan guidelines, the Sacrament of Confirmation is generally conferred upon parish students in their 8 th grade year. However, our parish welcomes students in High School to receive Confirmation, as well.
In the Sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized person is "sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit" and
is strengthened for service to the Body of Christ. Confirmation brings Catholics a deepening of baptismal grace and unites us more firmly to Christ. Similar to Baptism, it increases the gifts of the Holy Spirit and leaves an indelible mark on the soul. The seven gifts of the Holy Spirit received through Confirmation are Wisdom, Understanding, Knowledge, Fortitude or Courage, Counsel, Piety or Love, and Fear of the Lord.
During Confirmation prep, students will choose a Sponsor and a Patron Saint name. The primary responsibility of the sponsor is to provide prayerful support and guidance to the candidate in his or her Christian walk. By choosing a saint’s name, you are asking him or her to pray for you in a special way.
